Haul, Instagram and other things

So many things have been going on lately so I've had to put the blog on hold for a while.
School has kept me busy as ever and work also so I've had little time for anything else but now
school is over, at least until next fall when I'll begin my last semester as I'll
graduate next Christmas. Can't wait!

Please click on the link and follow me there.

Last but not least; my haul!!
I met up with a friend in London where we spent a great weekend mostly in art galleries,
we also did a lot of sight seeing, walked around and drank a few beers ;)
From there we went to Sweden where she lives, I spent a few weeks there with her and her boyfriend,
needless to say, I had a lot of fun and picked up a few nail related things.

The items:
Lush - Lemony Flutter (finally got one)
Essie spa - Starter Scrub
Essie - Apricot Cuticle Oil
Crabtree and Evelyn hand lotions

The polishes:
China Glaze - Turned Up Turquoise
China Glaze - Platinum Silver
China Glaze - Pink Voltage
OPI - Go With The Lava Flow
OPI - A-piers To Be Tan
OPI - Wharf! Wharf! Wharf!
Essie - Mint Candy Apple
Essie - Over The Edge

I bought a back-up of Essie's Mint Candy Apple in Sweden, it's my
favorite polish and the brand hasn't been available in Iceland but to my surprise that changed last week.
I see a lot of money spending in my near future.

Polishes are:
Essie - Bikini So Teeny
Essie - No More Film
Essie - Cute As A Button

That's it for now, I can't promise a steady stream of blog posts but I'll do my best,
you might see more from me on Facebook or Instagram so be sure to follow me there,
you can find the links on the bar to the right of this post.
Until next time.

Peppermint Taffy

The boutique I work in is a little bit out of town and is right next to a shop called the Christmas Garden and as the name says its full of Christmas-y things and is open all year round.
One of the things the Christmas garden is famous for here is their considerable variety of taffy caramels that come in many tastes and colors.
I try not to go in there so often because the caramels call to me, they tell me to eat them all (!!!!), but for rare special occasions when I want to treat myself  I go and buy a (mountain of them) a few I and always think to myself that they are perfect nail art inspiration and if I can contain myself and won't eat them all at once, I could do a series of taffy inspired nail art. What do you think? Good idea?

But anyway, on to the nail art.
Here's the first one, peppermint taffy.

Polishes used:
OPI - Alpine Snow
Essie - Peach Daiquiri

I'm eating the caramel as I'm writing this, it's heavenly!

A Late Happy New Year And A Gradient

Happy new year people!! I'm back home and I don't like it, there was no snow in Sweden and not even that cold and I came home to wet snow and cold wind :(
It's back to school now and I'm pretty exited over the courses I'll be taking this semester.

But here are my last two polishes I bought at the airport

Essie - Tart Deco
Essie - In Stitches

And a gradient using them :)

Candy Stripes

Hope Christmas has been good to everyone, I got many wonderful things, my brother gave me a card game called Cards Against Humanity which is hilarious and a little nasty, full of black humor and satire.
After we ate and opened up our presents we decided to watch zombie movies, we watched Dawn of the Dead and World War Z which is pretty good and Peter Capaldi the new Doctor in Doctor Who played a Doctor for the W.H.O. institute in the WWZ movie, coincidence?? I don't think so!
Can't wait to see more of Capaldi in Doctor Who, unfortunately the new season starts next fall...
I can't wait that long!!
And last night we watched Zombieland, it's always fun ;)

I got lucky and found some Essie polishes on sale in Ahléns.

I bought Rock The Boat which is a pale blue polish, Naughty Nautical is teal and Madison Ave-hue is a hot pink one, they all have a subtle silver shimmer, that's what drew me to them ;)

I'm not quite happy how the pictures came out, not a lot of natural light to work with so I used the kitchen light but that made my skin look some kind of reddish-brown, but at least the manicure is pretty decent :)

Polishes used:
Essie - Naughty Nautical
Essie - Rock The Boat

Don't they look yummy?

31DC2013 Day 4 - Green Nails

The lighting is a little odd, it was getting dark when I took these.

Polishes Used:
Essie - Mint Candy Apple
OPI - Be A Dahlia Wont You
Alessanro - Midnight Black

Mint Candy Apple and Be A Dahlia Wont You are my two favorite polishes, MCA is probably the polish I use most often but the pink one is the polish I have used the most of bottle wise, I haven't used it for a while because I have so little left :(

OMD 31 Day Challenge Day 20 - 3D Nails

Today's theme for the OMD Challenge Giveaway is 3D.

I thought I would use a mint green for this manicure as a tribute to the 13 year old Talia Joy who passed away this week after a lifelong battle with two types of cancer, I didn't know who she was until a few days ago, she was an incredible talented make up and nail artist and her videos on youtube are really fun.

Polishes used:
Essie - Mint Candy Apple
Bourjois topcoat with glitter

I was thinking of a meadow when I did this and I have to say I'm extremely happy with how this turned out.

OMD 31 Day Challenge Day 12 - Dots

This one is a failure, the colors where just not right and somehow it just didn't work but I was too lazy to do another one.

OPI - Teal The Cow Come Home
OPI - Bright Lights - Big Color
Cult Nails - Deal With It

So to make up for it I found a old one and decided to post that one too.

Essie - Mint Candy Apple
Essie - Play Date
and and unnamed bright purple.

This is a pre-scheduled post because right now I'm rockin' and rollin' and drinkin' like there is no tomorrow at a rock/metal music festival called Eistnaflug or Flight of the Testies in proper English :p
Hope you have a goooood weekend :)

OMD 31 Day Challenge Day 8 - Matte

On Wednesday I will be going to Neskaupsstaður (which is a town in the middle of nowhere) on a rock/metal music festival called Eistnaflug, I went last year and it's so much fun!!
About 40 rock and metal bands from Iceland and other countries play from Wednesday to Saturday, last year it was epic, of course it will be epic now as well :)

So because of that I will try to schedule posts from Wednesday to Sunday and probably won't be answering comments until Monday because I will be ROCKIN' my head of!!!

So it's day 8 and the theme is Matte.

Polises used where gazillion :p
Essie - Mint Candy Apple
Essie - Play Date
OPI - Hawaiian Orchid
Black Heart Beauty - Purple
Unnamed Black in a skull bottle
Unnamed Pink in a skull bottle
MaxFactor - Fantasy Fire
And my matte topcoat is from Alessandro

I topped Fantasy Fire over different colors to see how FF changed differently over different colors.

OMD 31 Day Challenge - Day 6 - Neon

So I colored my hair yesterday, It was blonde/white with orange tips, now it's blond/white with blue tips :)
I love changing my hair color, it's like going on an adventure, it could go horribly wrong or
it could come out amazing and then you have this sense of change, of newness even though
nothing in particular has changed.
And if it goes wrong your hair will grow out or it can be colored again.

Okay so on to the OMD 31 Day Challenge Giveaway!
It's day 6 and today's theme is Neon.

Polishes used:
Alessandro - Yummy Yellow
China Glaze - I'm With The Lifeguard
Essie - Peach Daiquiri

Yummy Yellow is a CRAZY neon yellow creme color, it took 2 medium thick coats to get it opaque and the consistency was fine, had no problems with it. The only thing weird is that in the bottle it looks like the yellow and the white have seperated but when I applied it on the nails it was fine.

So hope you all enjoy your Saturday and have a happy weekend.
Skál!

OMD 31 Day Challenge Day 3 - Purple

This mani is kind of a nail fail, I was trying to do a gradient with glitter polish but the glitter had a life of its own and went all over the place.
Also I broke a nail but I refuse to let that stop me and I refuse to cut the other nails, I haven't been with so long nails for a long, long time so I apologize for the inconsistency in my nail length.

Purple is the color of today.
Polishes used:
Essie - Lilacism
Essie - Play Date
Depend - 202
E.L.F - Purple Dream
Orly - Can't Be Tamed

For some reason my pinky is always out of focus.

Manicure For Sigga.

I did a mani on my friend the other day, she has much bigger nails than I so it was weird to not have to swipe off the excess polish on the brush before I paint the nails.

Polishes used
Sally Hansen Xtreme wear - Coral Reef
Essie - Play Date
Essie - Mint Candy Apple

Of course I lectured her on cuticle care ;) :p
It's not often I paint other's people's nails but I think it went pretty well :)
It lasted without major chipping almost a week! Now I'm thinking I must be a Champion Clutz in nail chipping because without fail I've chipped my polish the next day... I should get a medallion for this! :p
Well it gives me a reason to paint my nails more often.

Summer Holiday Watercolor Nails

I recently joined an group on Facebook called She Who Does Nail Art Challenges and this is my first time participating, the theme of this week is Holidays.

Last Thursday was the first day of summer here in Iceland we celebrate it as a holiday, it was snowing but that is said to be a good sign because when that happens we believe we will have a warm and sunny summer,  its the last day of school tomorrow so my holiday is a summer :)
I was trying to get some sort of grass like nail effect but that failed miserably but I still
hope it qualifies for the nail challenge...

I followed this tutorial: No Mess Watercolor Nail Tutorial
This is the first time trying this technique so go easy on me.

My left hand.

My right hand.

The biggest problem I have is my camera, it isn't very good and I'm battling to find a good setting to take macro pictures of my nails but the camera is moody, some days it's all blurry and won't focus and other days it won't show the colors correctly, well I've had it for at least five years so maybe it's not that weird its not doing so well anymore.

For base color I used Essie - Mint Candy Apple, then Klean Color - Bikini Green, Klean Color - Neon Green and on my accent nail and thumb on the left hand I added Misa - Blame it on fat tuesday but not on the right hand for some reason I can't remember and lastly added Seche Vite top coat. I wish I had added Blame it on fat tuesday to all my nails as it is slightly darker and gives the design a little more depth, but I'm still pretty happy about it.
