Juicy Tomatoes

After the September-challenge craziness I'm trying to set myself blogging goals and actually following them through, this is not the first time I finish a challenge and then fall into a blogging rut, don't know what to blog about and what to paint on my nails, also up until now I've only posted sporadically, whenever the mood strikes or I do a pretty manicure, but now I want to put a little more effort into it and see how that goes.

For starters I've started several inspiration books where I can write things like prompts and themes, color schemes and trying to plan ahead for Christmas, Halloween, future challenges and such or if I don't know what to do I can look into my inspiration books and find something I like and want to try.
Well we'll see how that goes.

These are juicy tomatoes, I actually don't like tomatoes that much, the texture or something, I'm not sure, doesn't go well with me but I like these I did on my nails.
Are tomatoes fruits or vegetables?

Alanna Renee - Avada Kedavra Swatches

I wasn't going to post these photos, wasn't happy with them, my nails and cuticles weren't in a good condition that day and I felt that I could do better with my had poses.
But then I decided that it didn't matter, so here they are ;)

Avada Kedavra by Alanna Renee
These are 3 coats, I had trouble with getting the big glitters out as you may notice, only one or two on each nail. The pictures do not quite capture the color correctly, its a little more luminescent, little less neon.

It's gorgeous, don't you think?

Reverse Half Moons

Hi, remember me?
Hope so! It's been a while, school is finally over and the summer is on it's way.

The reason I haven't been blogging lately was partly because of school and partly because I felt a little uninspired and just didn't feel like painting my nails, so because of that I decided to take a little break from it rather than push myself into doing something I'd rather not be doing, this is first and foremost my hobby and shouldn't feel like a chore. I'm hoping now that school is over I'll again be able to have fun paining my nails.

Anyway, on to the nails!!
Of course I had no sunshine when taking these, the first one is in natural light, the rest are taken under lamplight so you can see all the holographic goodness ;)

School project: Pop art nails

I have a wonderful teacher who always asks to see what I have on my nails, she is teaching modern art history, from 1900 to the present and last week we where learning about pop art and our assignment was to make a "pop art" art :p and I decided to do a Roy Lichtenstein inspired nail art.
I studied the patterns and color combinations he used in his art and incorporated them onto my nails.

Polishes used:
OPI - Alpine Snow
OPI - Cajun Shrimp
OPI - I Just Can't Cope-acabana
OPI - Need Sunglasses?
Opi - Taupe-less Beach
Nabi - Blue Away
Nameless black polish in a skull bottle

It's a little messy but I think I did pretty good.

Haul: Nail Mail

When Color4nails had discount on all A England polishes I decided I needed to try a couple and using the opportunity ordered few more, I'm loving their service, the delivery was quick and that's saying something because I live in Iceland. Everything was packaged in bubble wrap and padded envelope and the best part was that I got it straight to my door.

From left to right:
Jade - Holografico Mgia. Beautiful black holo (See picture below.)
A England - Order Of The Garter. Blue shimmer with purple flecks.
A England - Rose Bower. Red metallic holo.
Alanna Renee - Avada Kedavra. Lime green base with small and medium lime green glitter.
Glisten and Glow H K Girl - Fast drying and super shiny clear top coat. Can't wait to try it, heard so many great things about it.

And here is an extra picture of the holographic black, sooo sparkly!!!

In other news, I'm swamped in school right now, there might get a little while between posts, sometimes I just don't have the energy to do anything on my nails.

This is what happens when.....

....I don't try my design out first on a nail wheel.
This isn't a complete disaster but I had something completely different in mind, it was supposed to be much more delicate and not so chaotic.

Polishes used:
OPI - 4 In The Morning
OPI - Love.Angel.Music.Baby.
And I used topcoat to get it more sparkly.

I love gradients

Just so you know, my pinky is really swollen, I was trying to be faster than my cat to the door so I could close it before he got out so I was jumping at the door and somehow my hand collided all wrong on the door, so now I have a sprained pinky >.<
I'm really sore, swollen and bruised but at least my finger is not broken. ;)

But on to the nail art!
I'm hooked on gradients at the moment.

Polishes used:
American Apparel - Crescent Heights
American Apparel - Peacock

Love both these polishes, they are really unique.

A Late Happy New Year And A Gradient

Happy new year people!! I'm back home and I don't like it, there was no snow in Sweden and not even that cold and I came home to wet snow and cold wind :(
It's back to school now and I'm pretty exited over the courses I'll be taking this semester.

But here are my last two polishes I bought at the airport

Essie - Tart Deco
Essie - In Stitches

And a gradient using them :)

My New Years Nails

I've been letting myself go a little here in Sweden polish wise, I normally don't buy this much polish but when you get your hands on so much variety you have to use the opportunity ;)
My latest haul, I got the Orly polishes half off!

Isadora - Love Crush
Isadora - Pool Crush
Isadora - Emerald Crush
Orly - Blue Collar
Orly - Orange Sorbet
Orly - It's Not Me It's You

Now on to my new years manicure, this looks much better in person, I have a personal vendetta with my camera at the moment, every photo I take comes out wonky in some way.

Polishes used:
Unnamed black polish in a skull shaped bottle
Isadora - Love Crush
Isadora - Pool Crush

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you all!!
I'll be spending Christmas with my friend and her boyfriend, we are planning on having a Zombie Movie Marathon tonight after we open out presents, it'll be awesome ;)

This will be my Christmas manicure, there are a few things I'm not happy with, I should have made the white and green area a bit smaller so the burgundy polish would show more, but other than that I'm pretty happy how it turned on.

Polishes used:
OPI - DS Extravagance
OPI - Alpine Snow
KleanColor - Metallic Green

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with lots of cookies and candles ;)

Funky Christmas Trees?

Finally I've got time to do some blogging :) School's over until January and work has taken it's place.
All my attention and free time went into school so I haven't been doing any nail art for a while now, my nails and cuticles are not in the best shape ever but I decided to post this manicure anyway.
Some of the photos are taken under a lamp and some in daylight.... or almost daylight, the days are getting shorter and shorter, now we only have a couple of hours of daylight, it's really tricky to take decent photographs.

Polishes used:
Kleancolor - True Purple
Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Teal
Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Candy
Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Clover
Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Fuchsia
Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Black

As you can see the colors vary from photo to photo, tricky business.

I'll be spending Christmas and New Years in Sweden, I'm leaving in a few days and I'm sooo excited.
I went last year also and had a really good time. The nail polish hoarder in me is squeeing with delight, new polishes, new polishes!!!
Last time I saw a lot of OPI's, Essie's and Isadora's but what other polish brands can I find there?? And where??
Can I find Seche Vite in Sweden??
Please let me know so I know where to look ;)

Stitched Halloween Nails

Even though we don't celebrate Halloween here in Iceland I decided I wanted to do some Halloween nail art, I did two looks, the first one is this and I'll post the second one tomorrow.

So happy Halloween for those who celebrate it!!
I followed a tutorial by HannahRoxNails which you can find here!

I'm not 100% satisfied with this but I'm still happy how it came out.
There are many smears and bubbles that somehow slithered in there...
Also the lighting is kinda wonky..

Polishes used:
Alessandro - Ice Cream Bar Lime - Vanilla
Alessandro unknown purple
E.L.F. - Party Peach
Alessandro - Midnight Black

My friend colored my hair yesterday and I'm really happy with the outcome, so I decided to overcome the phobia of posting a picture of myself (other than my nails ;) ) and show you how it looks like.
And the quality of the picture is crap.
PINK!!!!

Okay that's everything for today, now I'll go brood over the increasing amount of snow that is falling at the moment, I'll have to swim my way out of the house tomorrow...
